Some important app changes.

Make sure install these and set them as the default handlers for their types:
    .pdf  Okular
    VIDEOS  smplayer

Sun Java
    Could probably download and install the .rpm from Sun.
    This recommends installing the .bin under /usr/lib and then updating the
     /etc links, but that mixes rpm with manual artifacts.

    I prefer downloading the *.bin and extracting it to under /local and using
     plain old JAVA_HOME and PATH, forgetting about /etc altogether.
